Every now and then an Insta treat stops us in its tracks—we didn't think that Unicorn Lattes could be topped, but of course the wonders of the Internet never cease. When The Naked Flora's mermaid toast popped up in Wolven Threads' Insta feed, we knew what breakfast was about to get a whole lot prettier, and fast. Essentially a vegan cream cheese adorned with pretty superfood powders to lend a swirly, aquatic palette, this ultra-delish toast requires a bit of prep but is totally worth the wow factor. And if you decide to go for the regular old tub of Philadelphia? Our lips are sealed.
Vegan "Cream Cheese" Spread
To make the spread, you will need to soak 2 cups of almonds overnight. Once they’ve soaked for at least 8 hours, rinse them in fresh hot water, pinch the skins off, and plop them into your blender or food processor. Then add:
1/3 cup of water
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp of apple cider vinegar
1 tsp almond milk
1 tsp of vegan butter
1 clove of garlic
½ tsp of sea salt and blend together, creating your “cream cheese” spread.
