We're Stealing These NYFW Styling Cues

Posted by Bikini Owner in bikini, collections, New York, NYFW, Runway, styling, suits

With NYFW frenzy well underway, we can't help but notice Spring 2018 designer collections include bikini styling tricks worth an everyday try.  A few ensembles are totally unexpected and come to us with surprise, but others are quite predictable. The frong (which we've backed since day one) is the biggest suit silhouette sent down the runway, but paired with slouchy low-rise bottoms displaying a bit of hip is what's super new-new. Take a look at styling cues we're stealing from the New York catwalks and taking directly to the beach and streets.

NYFWSwimwear as Ready-to-Wear

First came the slip dress over a tee, now comes the bikini-esque tank over a ready-to-wear top. Give your bikini or one-piece a second life during cold-weather months by pairing with an under top — guaranteed cool-girl OTD. No rules apply here — mix and match patterns or textures.

NYFWBody Part De Jour

Flashes of underboob solidify our prediction — below breast crease is the body-flaunting craze. Forget side boob action; this trending bod display dominates the risque factor. But if there's a way to execute this appropriately, sans a raunchy vibe, it's at the beach.

NYFWLow-Rise Slouchy Bottoms with Suits

Following an urban street flair, inspired by the early 2000s, comes the return of the uber-slouchy pant. It's not untidy though — when paired with a bikini top, this look transforms into prime coolwear.

NYFWPeek-a-Boo Hip
With a low-rise pant and high-cut suit pairing comes a peek-a-boo hip accentuating effect — it's an updated throwback on a major fashion moment of the early 2000s. Think Britney Spears performing at the VMAs in a nude sparkly suit with a thong on display.

NYFWBucket Hats
As the revivals continue, something we thought would never make it out of the 80s rap scene is back — the bucket hat is officially decreed stylish again thanks to NYFW.

NYFWHands-Free Bag
An oldie but goodie — the fanny pack is seen wrapped around the waist and as a cross-body. It's no longer doomed as G-Ma's touristy piece, rather an on-trend accessory to carry. But stay stylishly safe and refrain from pairing with a bucket hat.
