MIKOH Runway Report

Posted by Bikini Owner

What a night! The lush Raleigh Hotel hosted one of the most talked-about shows at Miami Swim. Mikoh, created by sisters Kalani and Oleema Miller, wowed us all at its debut runway show. The event was so sizzling that outsiders snuck in to get a look at the buzz.

The California-based brand was born from the sisters’ love of the ocean and an appreciation of the perfect bikini. In Japanese, MIKO means "female shaman" and they sure showed it: Last night’s collection was all about confident, modern women.

Dubbed "South Pacific", the show kicked off with Tahitian dancers donning pieces from the Mikoh x Surf collection in a modern interpretation of a traditional Tahitian outfit. The vibe was flirty and the models were stunning in that exotic-yet-carefree way.

The performance embodied traditions and fun, framed by models in strappy swimwear, detailed criss-crossed backs, and barely-there bottoms.

Not much was needed in the way of hair or makeup, as tousled beach waves and a “no-makeup-makeup” look stepped aside for glowing skin and sun-kissed lips.

Prints popped, with standouts like "crashing white water," "Polynesian palm trees," "aerial reefs" and a Samoan print reminiscent of the South Pacific. Styles like tied-up button down shirts, bandeaus with center braiding, and flowy caftans.

"I love the new black and white palm print," says's Gina Nguyen. "Mikoh's collection is daring, yet can also stand as a classic part of your bikini collection."

Colors were big, with yellows, blues and reds set off against classic black. Cuts were modern takes on classics, with high-waisted two-pieces, deep v-neck one-pieces, bandeaus and monokinis. Surfer-inspired bodysuits crafted in sultry black neoprene looked fit for a Bond girl.

Even Mikoh's cover-ups were diverse, and their resort pieces were perfect for transitioning from day to night. Haltered rompers, sheer, paneled tops, halter dresses, and printed palm tree bottoms? Yes, please!
