Designer Spotlight: Q&A With The Ladies Behind Love Me Knots

Posted by Bikini Owner

Jewelry that’s eco-sound and fashion forward? Introducing Love Me Knots, a Hawaiian line that's helping to make the world a better place one covetable body chain at a time.

Not only does Love Me Knots utilize sustainable, eco-friendly packaging and incorporate recycled treasures from the sea into their delicate one-of-a-kind pieces (each gets a signature pink coral), but 20 percent of the profits go toward providing food, shelter, and care for an animal in need.

Owners and long-time friends Sophia and Jaclyn are big supporters of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). They also tend to treat their pets like their children, which we’re sure every Bikini Girl can relate to. All in all, they’re “just two girls who want to save the world in style!”—as their motto goes. Read on to get to know our latest designer crushes.

You two are obviously extremely passionate about jewelry design. What originally sparked your interest in fashion?

We have both always been interested in fashion from a young age. Sophia and I met while working at a luxury hotel in Honolulu and would always chat about the latest trends and one day starting a business. Here we are!

What do you enjoy most about designing within the swimwear space?

Our designs, especially the body jewelry and drop necklaces, are simple yet sophisticated and compliment swimwear pieces perfectly. They provide just the right amount of glamour to any beach-inspired or resort look.

It’s always great to learn how you, the designers, wear your own pieces.

We are obsessed with layering our necklaces with our body jewelry, and pairing it with anything from deep cut jumpsuit to a simple white v-neck t-shirt to of course our favorite bikinis. The entire Shipwreck Collection is classic and can be worn everyday with a variety of looks.

How does living in Honolulu, Hawaii affect your overall aesthetic?

We are influenced by the natural beauty around us and the giving spirit of aloha. From the sea shells we use to our thoughtfully designed eco-friendly packaging, we always try to incorporate a little piece of what inspires us here at home in each design.

Your mission at Love Me Knots is to improve the lives of animals in need. How have you seen this through?

We have been donating mainly to the Hawaiian Humane Society ... We are open to working with other animal charities and looking for other animal-related organizations, but we chose to focus locally first. Love Me Knots also provides assistance and custom designs to help raise awareness for personal fundraisers, and has helped raise funds for other causes such as cancer.
