This Bride's Wedding Was Hot as Hell

If there's ever a day to dress like your inner beach goddess, it's your wedding day. We've heard from our #RealBikiniBabes that finding swimwear to match their super-beachy special day is hard to come by (if not nearly impossible). Enter Hot-As-Hell bridal. Designed with the modern mermaid in mind, the line offers apparel for every kind of bride. We spoke with Jilli Joffe, Hot-As-Hell's bridal muse and the voice behind the brand, about overcoming the stress of planning her own wedding, and what designing the bridal line was really like.

Jilli Joffe Wedding

BIKINI: Who is the Hot-As-Hell bride?

JILLI JOFFE: The Hot-As-Hell bride is a modern, independent woman who is't afraid to stand out from the crowd. She's real and authentic and not afraid to be herself.

BIKINI: You helped design Hot-As-Hell's bridal collection – what was the design process like? Where did you find inspiration?

JJ: As a bride-to-be, I had trouble finding clothes to wear to all my wedding-related functions that actually fit my personal style. So I was excited and honored to play the role of Hot-As-Hell's bridal muse, because it meant I had this once-in-a-lifetime experience to help design, merchandise, and color Hot-As-Hell's first-ever bridal collection. It was really exciting and rewarding to work with our designer Rebecca to build this collection step by step. I was definitely inspired by my own experience as a bride, and tried to create pieces that would work in bridal scenarios without feeling too bridal. It was also important to me that the pieces were versatile enough that they could be worn (and re-worn) well after the wedding or honeymoon is over. Who wants pieces that you'll never look at again?

BIKINI: Was the bridal line inspired by you, or was Hot-As-Hell planning on creating a collection for brides?

JJ: I think it was a natural progression of Hot-As-Hell to have a bridal collection. We're a brand that strives to be there for our customer through all the stages of her life. Since getting married is such a hugely important part of any woman's life, a bridal collection was inevitable. I think our founder Sharleen was just waiting for the right moment. That moment came when a member of her team got engaged and started planning her own wedding. We wanted the collection to feel authentic, and so my wedding was the perfect time to launch La Flamme. Hot-As-Hell is that kind of brand that works with a real bride to design a collection for other real brides.

BIKINI: What are your favorite pieces from Hot-As-Hell's bridal collection?

JJ: That's such a hard question, because I love everything! But I know that's not very helpful, so I've narrowed it down to my absolute must-HAHves:

Reversible Split at the Seams Dress

Reversible Split at the Seams Dress, $348

This was, after all, my bridemaid's dress – reversible and machine washable, too!

I'll Take U Farrer Dress

I'll Take U Farrer Dress, $448

This is the dress I wore down our Miami catwalk as Hot-As-Hell's bridal muse.

Reversible Spinster Bodysuit

Reversible Spinster Bodysuit, $98

This is the bodysuit I wore under my robe in my "getting ready" photos – it's also reversible.

HAHT Titsy Top and Bottom

HAHT Titsy Top, $98 and HAHT Tinsi Bottom, $88

I just came back from my honeymoon, and I took lots of eyelet with me. It's feminine, timeless, and absolutely perfect for a romantic getaway.

Yoko Kimono

Yoko Kimono, $498

This is one of my favorite pieces of the entire collection, so naturally it was on my honeymoon packing list as well. The genius of this piece is that it's made of mesh – light-weight, easy to pack, minimal wrinkling, and you don't have to worry about it getting wet! Plus, it dobles as loungewear – the best!

Yes Yes Yes Dress

Yes Yes Yes Dress, $298

This dress is super special, a total showstopper – I wore the black version in my engagement photos, and the white one came with me on my honeymoon.

Comin' in HAHT Bodysuit

Comin' in Haht Bodysuit, $78

Anything in "Something Blue" – this is the color I helped develop for our bridal collection, and makes the perfect gift for any bride or bridesmaid!

BIKINI: How did you deal with the stress of planning a wedding?

JJ: Planning a wedding is super stressful, I think that's just par for the course. It doesn't matter if you're planning a huge affair or something more intimate. Something's going to go wrong because – Murphy's Law. And I should know – we had our fair share of issues. We had to move the date and location multiple times and two venues fell through. But when we finally landed on an intimate 30-person wedding on a private estate in Palm Springs, it just felt right. We realized all those other plans falling through had led us to our perfect day. So try to keep in mind that everything happens for a reason. The only thing that really matters is that you get to spend the rest of your life with your favorite person.

BIKINI: Which pieces from Bikini would you recommend for soon-to-be-brides?

Skinesque 3-Step Brightening Charcoal Mask, $35

A sheet mask is a great way to prep your skin for any wedding-related events.

Mystique Iced Out Foot Jewelry

Mystique Iced Out Foot Jewelry, $130

I love the idea of wearing foot jewelry under your wedding dress in lieu of uncomfortable heels – perfect for the boho bride!

Our eyelet fabric is perfect to pack for the honeymoon.
