Hot Workout: Pop Physique
Any fitness studio that encourages selfies is pretty confident about their mission. Pop Physique, a barre-based boutique studio with 19 locations and counting, has instructions to "pop your selfie" in nearly all of their studios, so you can imagine the Instagram love. Lithe, stylish ladies with serious abs follow those instructions and snap photos of themselves in colorful leggings and sports bras, basically making themselves walking billboards for the progam's highly effective results. Founded in 2008 by former ballet dancer and Lotte Berk instructor Jennifer Williams and her husband Deric (he's the marketing master behind those hot ads) in Silverlake, Los Angeles, Pop Physique blends ballet, Pilates, and the Lotte Berk method's highly effective high-repetition technique to create a one-hour workout that finely sculpts the body into seriously sexy shape.
While the workout promises a lot, a "better butt" is at the heart of the franchise's success, with students taking selfies in crazy-revealing undies to prove that this class isn't all cheek: It really, really works. Tons of movements focused on the thighs and glutes are at the heart of each 60-minute class, using the barre, playground balls, and lots of micro-movements which target all the muscles in and around the derriere, sculpting it into a rear-facing selfie-worthy submission. What sets Pop Physique apart from the sea of other barre-based classes is its dedication to the creative outlet that dance offers, with classes using finely tuned playlists and choreography that feels far more like real dancing than any of its competitors. With new studios opening in Pasadena, Venice Beach and New York City this fall, now is the time to seek out one of these sexy, super-effective classes and see what all the chatter is about. Make sure you take your phone with you, in case you're compelled to snap a selfie.
