Hot Workout: Ballet Bodies

We could say a lot of things about why Ballet Bodies, a strengthening, core-blasting workout studio in L.A. is so hot right now, but we're pretty sure all you need to know is that Miranda Kerr, whose bodacious body is basically perfection, trains there. Other fans include Rooney Mara, Taylor Schilling, Rosie Huntington-Whitley, and a young gal named Taylor Swift.

Now that you can visualize the end result, here's the scoop: ballet dancer Andie Hecker, who trained with Tracy Anderson in New York after a stint with the New York City Ballet, founded Ballet Bodies after hanging up her pointe shoes when scoliosis surgery forced her into early retirement. Hecker became a certified fitness and Pilates instructor and developed her signature training method, which fuses work on Pilates machines like the Cadillac and Reformer with traditional ballet movements and high-intensity training circuits to sculpt muscles into long, lean, dancer's shape.  

There are also group classes like Ballet Jump, which uses trampolines to amp up the cardio quotient, and Ballet Burn, a dance cardio class which incorporates classic ballet combinations with isolated mat work to target the core, butt and thighs. 

Hecker and her trainers bring ballet-based movement into contemporary fitness training, so if you grew up at the barre, you'll feel utterly at home breaking a sweat here.
