Meditation is becoming more of a commonly known practice in the Western world. Corporate offices are having their employees meditate for better productivity while cultural influencers such as Tony Robbins use meditation as a personal tool. Living in today's fast-paced world can make us forget to slow down and be still.
Why Should We Meditate?
The practice of observing our thoughts and emotions through breathing allows us to become more present and observant in our daily life. When I first started meditating, it took me a while to get into the rhythm of things, because I always found excuses not to do it. I’d look at it as a task and not as an opportunity. In only a small amount of time, I have noticed immense differences. I see my emotions coming before I react, I am consistently more in the present moment each day, and it has made me a more joyful and grateful person. You too will notice these types of benefits with a consistent and curious practice.

Begin with a goal of 10 minutes for the first couple of weeks. Use a timer to keep track, and increase the length of your meditation as you continue with your practice.
