New Year, New Manicure

Posted by Bikini Owner in Aila nail polish, eco-friendly manicure

Did you catch the Golden Globes on Sunday night? We know all everyone is talking about is Oprah, and we get that (her speech? Monumental). While we normally tune in to see the season's trends unfold on the red carpet, this year's 'Time's Up' all-black dress code means we'll have to wait till the next big show to really see the fashion fly. One trend did emerge though, and we're intrigued: black manicures. Synching their nails to their LBD's, some stars, like Heidi Klum and Claire Foy, took a dark approach to their manis with jet-black hues and short, square shapes.

We immediately pulled out a bottle of Aila's House of Paine, a classic, clean black that is a dead ringer for Saoirse Ronan or Nicole Kidman's ebony digits. Since we added this chic boutique collection of nail varnishes to the beauty shop, we're not using anything else. A super-clean range of on-trend colors, Aila was created by a podiatric surgeon striving to create a luxurious, high-end beauty brand that was also inherently healthy. Free of parabens, sulfates, formaldehyde and formaldehyde resin, and a host of other chemicals found in most conventional nail polishes, each Aila shade is a brush in the right direction.

Which gets us back to those Golden Globes manis. We know that not everyone is going to be donning black for the season, but we're betting that this mega-glam manicure trend is going to stick around. We'd been planning to treat our nails a bit more nicely as part of our self-care New Year's resolutions, and this is a great way to get started right out of the gate. New year, new nails. Unless we decide to go in a more peachy, pointy Oprah direction ... who do you think does her nails?
