At the first beach volleyball tournament held in Los Angeles, California in 1948, what was the prize awarded to the winning team?

Case of soda

A pair of flip-flops

Two pairs of sunglasses

Karch Kiraly won Olympic gold in indoor volleyball competition in 1984 and 1988. He won the first-ever Olympic beach volleyball competition in 1996. He is beach volleyball's career earnings all-time leader with over $2,700,000 in winnings and he shares the AVP record for most consecutive tournament victories (13). Karch Kiraly is second on the AVP beach volleyball tournament win list with 136 wins, trailing only the legendary Sinjin Smith by a mere 3 tournament wins. In 1998, at age 38, Karch teamed with Adam Johnson to form the most successful team on the AVP tour this year, winning 6 tournaments together - and it doesn't seem as if Karch is slowing down any time soon.
