The Bikini.com Story

Beach Blanket Bingo with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello was instrumental in starting the whole beach movie craze in the mid 1960's.

Fun in the sun has been part of America's pop culture for decades. From Frankie and Annette to Baywatch, every generation has had its own way of celebrating its love of dancing, playing and people watching on the beach. Whatever the reason, there's no doubt that the beach is as American as apple pie. Today, the world is having its day in the sun at Bikini.com, the World's Biggest Beach Party!

Bikini.com takes its creative inspiration from the campy Frankie and Annette movies and the Gidget movies from the 1960's.

Bikini.com is more than a website - it's a lifestyle and an attitude. It's about summer, beach parties, vacations, Spring Break, beautiful people, fun music, all wrapped up in a hip, youthful and irreverent style. With millions of fans around the world, Bikini.com is a grassroots, international pop culture hit!

Produced in a tasteful manner, Bikini.com is wholesome yet exciting enough to keep fans clicking in for more. With a tongue-in-cheek, retro look reminiscent of the old beach blanket bingo movies, Bikini.com is light-hearted, bright and full of All-American sex appeal. We are appropriate for all ages, and fun for everyone!

Bikini.com Co-Founders Howard and Gail Sonnenschein spent their summers growing up on the Jersey Shore.

Bikini.com was founded by the brother/sister team of Howie and Gail Sonnenschein, who grew up in New Jersey and frequented the Jersey shore (as well as some more slightly exotic locations). They are former fashion television producers by background, who launched the Bikini.com website on July 4, 1997 as a way to creatively fill the demand for a sexy "fun in the sun" entertainment project that was fun for girls as well as guys. They set out to build the world's ultimate online center for entertainment, information and merchandising services targeted at the millions of "bikini" and "beach" fans around the world. The site was a hit from the beginning, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Gail Sonnenschein was named as one of Alley Cat News top fifty women in Silicon Alley, as well as by License! Magazine in its prestigious "40 under 40" issue. Howard Sonnenschein is a principal photographer and videographer for Bikini.com, and has appeared on many news programs and talk shows as an expert on swimsuits, models and the beach lifestyle. We know, it's a tough job - but someone has to be an expert in that stuff!

Each year, Bikini.com produces top selling swimsuit calendars which are sold at stores including K-Mart.

Today, Bikini.com is being developed into a major global, cross-platform entertainment lifestyle brand celebrating the beach lifestyle, fun in the sun and beautiful people. Bikini.com has already begun to be recognized by merchandisers and retailers that want to appeal to Bikini.com's large fan base. Check out our Bikini.com books (Rizzoli Publishing), Bikini.com calendars (American Greetings) and other hot products that you can find in stores right now! Other projects in the works include television, publishing and Bikini.com live events.
