Actress Lea Michele gets "Glee"-ful in her bikini!
Glee star Lea Michele posted some photos of her holiday in Mexico on her Twitter page yesterday just hours before she jetted back home. The 25-year-old got her friend to take a picture of her in her bikini by the infinity pool overlooking the beach while she put her arms in the air. She also posted another of her legs on the sun lounger, along with the caption: "Haven't moved all day." And to make us even more envious, the actress held up a cocktail and wrote: "Cheers!"
You may feel like you just celebrated the New Year, but get ready -- bikini season is just around the corner. Every year, the fashion experts at Bikini.com have the enviable job of checking the swimsuit collections from all of the top swimwear designers and publishing our highly anticipated Bikini.com Swimwear Trend Report video. Here's a countdown of the Top 12 swimwear style trends you’ll be seeing on the beach this season:
1. Romantic Ruffles: From subtle frills to extravagant cascades, feminine flounces on swimwear are prim, yet sexy.
2. Tie it Up: Statement straps, restraining lace-ups, and gift-like wrapping are the hot new ties that bind.
3. On the Fringe: Whether inspired by native Americans, tribal chieftains or hippies, swimwear designers are flirting with fringe. It’s the shaggy new swimsuit accent that’s fun to shake and show off.
4. Monokini Mania: Cut-out swimsuits with linked tops and bottoms look like a one piece from the front but a two piece from the back. These flattering suit designs often cover areas of concern and are perfect for showing off just the right amount of curves.
5. Groovy Tie-Dye: The iconic 70s tie-dye look is back and this time it’s turned high end. Not just for hippies anymore, this colorful, nostalgic look remains a part of our swimsuit culture today. Just add bare feet and live music and you’ve got a party.
6. Black and White: From old movies to vintage Chanel, there’s something about the iconic pairing of black and white that’s always chic yet modern. You can’t go wrong with this striking combination on the beach or poolside.
7. Structured Bikini Tops: Sleek, structured molded cups offer great support and bust enhancement. If you’ve got it, flaunt it, and if not, well, this trendy swimsuit style may do the trick.
8. Juicy Citrus: Move over neutrals. Refreshing hues of lemon, lime and especially orange prove that bright and sunny days on the beach lie ahead.
9. Call of the Wild: Cougars young and old will enjoy swimwear featuring animal prints from small and dainty to big and bold. Animal prints infused with color provide a fun twist on a classic trend.
10. Sexy Snakeskin: Continuing with the animal theme, edgy python prints are slithering down the runways on slinky swimwear.
11. White Hot: Crisp, blinding and fresh, the little white bikini or one-piece is the powerful and pure new basic.
12. Bling it On: Even in swimwear, diamonds are a girl’s best friend. No longer just for nighttime, sparkly swimwear is now a fashion perennial. Whether it’s glitter, sequins or jewels, this is your moment to shimmer and be a showstopper on the beach.
Victoria's Secret Angels Candice Swanepoel, Doutzen Kroes and Behati Prinsloo posed for a swimsuit photo shoot at NY Yankees superstar Alex Rodriguez's house in Miami Beach the other day. Candice Swanepoel was seen in a multicolored bikini, Doutzen Kroes in a blue bikini and Behati Prinsloo in a pink bikini. We're sure some of the most beautiful women in the world have been at A-Rod's house before, but probably not three at this level of beauty, at once. But then again, maybe.
Spice Girl Geri Halliwell has launched a new Union Jack collection for UK high street store Next inspired by her iconic Spice Girls 1997 Brit Awards dress. To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the famous dress, Geri and Next have created a collection of printed Union Jack items including this fun bikini. The Union Jack collection is the latest in the "Geri by Next" range and will be available online and in selected stores from early March.
Oyster NYC is a cool emerging Brooklyn-based swimwear line that combines classic silhouettes with modern details. They like to use unexpected color combinations in their swimwear, and aim to flatter real body types. The Spring 2012 "Jump" Collection begins with jewel tones that people have in their wardrobes, but often overlook in swimwear. The inspiration for the collection came from old travel ads, dance-wear, and 80s urban culture and music (especially Cameo and ESG). Designer Francess Jaen tells Bikini.com, "I kept thinking about the female charaters in old Spike Lee films, (think "She's Gotta Have It") and the basketball court theme just fell in line. We shot at our local court in Brooklyn, using the painted lines as graphic props (which was influenced by the hard graphic lines used in a lot of mid-century modern ads). We wanted to challenge the the idea that swimwear needs to be shot in exotic locations with busty, bombshell models." (Ok, the Bikini.com team admits we might sometimes be guilty of that.)
"The Oyster customer is not interested in being overtly sexy, but sex appeal comes through in her confidence. Keeping the shoot clean and simple really made the colors of the swimsuits pop, and that is what we wanted to keep the focus on", adds Francess.
Check out Oyster's cool collection and equally cool photo shoot and tell us if it makes you want to double dribble.

Admiring the curves of a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model is one thing, but automaker Lexus is actually letting you drive it. As the Official Automotive Marketing partner of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit property, Lexus has created the TORI 500, showcasing an actual racetrack the automaker created in the shape of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Tori Praver’s body. Professional race car driver Scott Pruett and professional stunt driver Greg Tracy show that handling a swimsuit model's curves isn't as easy as it looks (well Bikini.com staffers could have told you that as well.)
